UJIA to offer grants of up to £5,000 for winter Israel projects
Jewish charity will support informal educational activities over December and January to ensure Israel engagement during the continuing pandemic
A pro-Israel charity will offer grants of up to £5,000 for innovative educational projects over the winter.
Amid the challenge posed by coronavirus restrictions, UJIA is hoping to ensure young people maintain their links to Israel with a new fund launched this week.
Money will be available for projects that promote engagement with the Jewish state, with the charity saying “applications are particularly welcome for activities aimed at underserved Jewish communities in the UK”. It will also “look favourably” on projects that include “joint activity with Israeli peers and which make creative use of technology”, while being Covid-compliant.
UJIA CEO, Mandie Winston said: “Our young people are still facing tremendous uncertainty and upheaval and it is more important than ever to provide innovative, stimulating programming to connect them with Israel, with their Jewish identities and with other young Jewish people experiencing the same challenges of this pandemic.
“We were overwhelmed by the range and quality of programming in the summer and hope our new fund will help bring some Israeli warmth to the long British winter.”
Applications for the UJIA Winter Engagement Fund must be submitted by 20 November, and activities receiving support must take place between 10 December and 17 January.
