Virgin Atlantic ‘rolling out fixes’ to in-flight maps after Israel ‘covered up’
Airline said it is working to 'ensure this no longer happens' after passenger complains that the Jewish state appeared to be absent at certain angles of the map
Virgin Atlantic has sought to reassure customers that it is fixing a glitch to its in-flight maps, following a complaint that Israel wasn’t shown, but Gaza and the West Bank were.
The airline’s response comes after passenger Daniel Kosky, 20, from London, said he was “very disappointed” by the the glitch, which he noticed on a flight from Johannesburg to London.
The student at Nottingham University took to Twitter posting a video, which showed the Middle East, including the Palestinian territories, but not the Jewish state.
Asking the company “why is Israel the only country in the world missing?”, he said that “all neighbouring countries, including West Bank and Gaza are labelled.”
Speaking to Jewish News in response to his complaint, a Virgin Atlantic Spokesperson said: “Israel is included on all of our in-flight maps, however due to a fault with the entertainment software on our Boeing 787 aircraft, at certain angles a number of place names are covered up.
“We’re currently rolling out fixes to the system which will ensure this no longer happens.”
