Trials in the Jungle

Will Ruby and Jack be King or Queen?

More I’m A Celeb and JUBY not getting out of there

Will Ruby Wax be Queen?

We’re heading into the final stretch of I’m A Celebrity, and our faith-favourite duo — Jack Osbourne and Ruby Wax aka JUBY are still standing. JUBY said goodbye to Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi, and Vogue Williams, so the odds are getting better for them to take the crown. Shame there isn’t a King and Queen of the Jungle.

Ruby picked up more praise last night when she took on the “Misfortune Tellers” trial which saw her enter a fortune-teller’s booth filled with snakes dangling above her head like the world’s worst chandelier. Her job was to untie stars while the snakes slithered around her face. At one point she said, “The snakes are disturbing me a little bit,” and that was understandable as one brushed her cheek. Yuck!

But Ruby kept going, hands shaking, and brought back five stars – not enough for the ten remaining camp mates, so she went into Jewish mother mode and was genuinely upset she couldn’t properly feed the family. Mind you she didn’t mind stealing a bag of liquorice allsorts when they got the sweet prize. Vogue told Ant and Dec Ruby should win which will hopefully pave her way to jungle victory and a possible TV series or YouTube channel.

Ruby with husband Ed Bye and their three children

Ruby actually put her TV career on hold after a period of depression and became a major mental-health advocate. She’s now a visiting Professor of Mental Health Nursing at the University of Surrey and has honorary doctorates for her work in psychology so is well suited to fronting a show which has her listening to others, supporting them, and taking responsibility as that seems to come naturally to her.

Jack Osborne sheds tears over wife’s letter

Married to Ed Bye, Ruby would be the first to admit she’s not a classic Jewish mother, and so would her kids Max, Maddy and Marina. In interviews she’s joked that she was never the “hovering, fussing, are-you-hungry-again?” type. She was the mum who was working, writing, filming, asking ten follow-up questions, then forgetting the soup entirely. Her two daughters now perform as the comedy duo Siblings so if nothing else she made them funny.

Meanwhile Jack had another emotional moment when he finally received his letter from home. The first attempt was lost to a failed challenge, but last night Kelly Brook, Ginge and Aitch won him a second chance. Kelly read out the message from Jack’s wife Lisa, updating him on their four children, and his face crumpled as tears appeared behind his glasses.
His sister Kelly Osbourne later posted that she was “so proud” of him and urged viewers to keep him in. We will.
