Fundraiser launched in memory of ‘kind and gentle’ Jewish Care worker
The care home worker was 'a much respected, loved and highly regarded member of the care home team,' the charity said
A fundraiser has been launched in memory of a “kind and gentle” Jewish Care worker who died at 61 last Friday after contracting the coronavirus.
He began feeling unwell last month and spent three weeks in hospital battling the virus, Jewish Care said.
The community’s leading care and health provider paid tribute to Mateo Aben in a social media post on Wednesday.
A member of staff at Rosetrees for 12 years, Aben was “a much respected, loved and highly regarded member of the care home team,” read a tweet from the charity on Wednesday.
“He was a kind and gentle man and took great pride in taking care of his residents, always ensuring they looked their best. He exemplified the family spirit,” it said.
Since yesterday, a Go Fund Me fundraiser launched by Rosetrees manager Alison Prior to support Aben’s family has raised £8,593 of a £10,000 target.
Jewish Care’s chief executive officer Daniel Carmel Brown was among those paying tribute to Aben, describing him as “the bravest of all and will be so terribly missed by all of us.”
