Gold standard for Yavneh College
National Citizenship Foundation awards Hertfordshire school highest accolade for social, moral, spiritual and cultural education
Yavneh College has been awarded the Gold Standard quality mark in Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education (SMSC) by the National Citizenship Foundation.
The organisation recognised that the school motto of ‘A World Built on Kindness’ is central to everything that goes on at the school including in the interactions between pupils and staff.
In particular, inspectors noted that students speak with “warmth and enthusiasm” about the vast range of opportunities offered and the school is “creating a generation of young people who are proud of their faith, culture and heritage”.
The Foundation acknowledged the way additional opportunities such as Informal Jewish Education, the Enrichment Programme and the key visits to Israel and Poland all help support Yavneh students in becoming independent, thoughtful and compassionate citizens.
Yavneh College executive headteacher, Mr Spencer Lewis said: “I am so proud; this award confirms what a special school Yavneh College is, not only academically but socially, morally and communally as well. It reflects the strong modern orthodox Jewish ethos of the school in a huge number of ways.’
