Green Party faces yet more questions about extremist hate from candidates
As well as queries about current candidates, the party is also facing questions about the status of those it has previously been approached about
The Green Party is facing further questions about some of its council candidates, including one who posted on social media that “you have designed with psychopathic patience and care all these years the narrative of ‘Jews eternal victims’ and ‘Islamic=terrorist’ and all this time we believed it and all this time the truth was exactly the opposite”.
Tina Ion, a Green candidate in the Blakeley and Cowgate ward of Newcastle, wrote the screed in Italian on Facebook in October 2025, in which she also effectively called for the ethnic cleansing of all Jews from the region, saying “It must happen that Israel humbly ask forgiveness and that they organise an exodus to their various lands of origin before the advent of Zionism…if I were in the shoes of the governments of the respective countries to welcome them, I would establish prevention rules against new occupational tendencies.”
Ion, who is believed to be of Romanian origin but previously gained Italian citizenship, also appeared to address Jews in Israel elsewhere in her Facebook post, saying: “You were welcomed with pity after the injustices suffered by the Nazi regime, and for the convenience of the West that did not want to take care of you. And how did you repay the generosity and Arab hospitality that is legendary? Kicking them out of their homes, killing their children and ensuring protection and economic ties with the strong so that you can now strangle them [the Palestinian] with impunity”.
Other posts by Ion included describing Jews in Israel disparagingly as “The Chosen people”. One post by Ion read: “God’s people: the chosen ones. Tell me again not to wish death on these shits”. Another shared a video by an account which showed a video of a strictly orthodox Jew removing bricks from a wall, with the unproved claim that “Palestinians can’t even lay a few bricks on their own land…settlers rush to destroy them before the cement dries”. Ion shared this with the caption “the chosen ones”.

Ion does not appear to have posted about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before mid-2025. However, in a Facebook post from April announcing her intention to stand as a Green Party candidate, she described how “My sensitivity was put to the test by helplessly witnessing the genocide of the Palestinians… I put my work on hold. And I spent days and nights absorbing every piece of news, every photo and video material, some leaving indelible marks but I felt the responsibility of being a witness, however difficult it was. The civilians and children of Palestine will not die in silence.” She then connected this to her decision to stand for the Green Party.
In December, Ion posted: “Just a heads up in case it wasn’t clear. I don’t serve Israelis and Zionists. This small business doesn’t accept blood stained money! My art deserves good owners. No exceptions.”
Ion has a business designing creating stuffed animal toys. It is unclear as to whether any “Israelis” or “Zionists” have attempted to purchase her “art”.
Yesterday, Zack Polanski, the Green party leader, visited Newcastle, telling local news that he stood behind “99%” of his candidates, after accusations of antisemitic comments made by some Green party local election hopefuls in the city.
As reported by the BBC, Dr Philip Brookes, a Green Party candidate for Newcastle’s Manor Park ward, had posts on his Facebook page which included an image describing Israel as “a bunch of Polish, Russian, Hungarian terrorists killing Palestinian people for 76 years”. His account also published an image of an Israel flag being torn to reveal a Nazi swastika flag, and in a post about the war in Gaza said it “takes serious effort not to be a tiny bit antisemitic”.
The BBC also reported that Mohammed Suleman, a candidate in the Arthur’s Hill ward of the city, shared a TikTok video which claimed Jewish prisoners of war were willing to bury Soviet prisoners alive under Nazi instruction during World War Two.
The Greens are also facing further questions about Bernard Mani, who had originally been announced as a candidate in Lewisham council’s Forest Hill ward. He was reported earlier this month to no longer be standing for the party, after posting “false flag” claims about 7 October, 2023, as well being videoed in November pulling down balloons at solidarity rally for Israeli hostages organised by the local Jewish community in Brighton and Hove.
Social media posts purportedly from Mani also appear to show him backing claims that Israel “killed its own people” on 7 October and then “covered it up to justify genocide.”
Responding to a post showing a photo of a man holding a placard making the “false flag” claims, Mani wrote “Yes” in response to another poster asking, “Is this true?”
In another post, Mani appeared to respond to an accusation that Palestinian terrorists had murdered “a baby, a toddler and their mother” – Shiri Bibas, four-year-old Ariel, and nine-month-old Kfir – by writing, “They were killed by an IDF bomb, just like most of the 1000s of kids in Gaza.”
Earlier this month, the Green Party told Jewish News: ““We can confirm that Bernard Mani is no longer a Green Party candidate.”
However, new footage shows Mani campaigning with the Green Party in Lewisham.
When questioned about whether the Green Party had withdrawn him as a candidate, Mani, who was together with a number of other Green party canvassers, said twice that the Party had not dropped him and that he had decided to withdraw himself.
When asked whether the Green Party had been planning to keep him as a candidate, Mani said: “I don’t know. I made my decision”, to which the questioner in the video says:
“Looks like they would if you’re out canvassing with them.”
In the meantime, the Green party has reportedly suspended another its candidates, Mark Adderley, who was standing as a local council candidate for the Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood ward in Croydon.
Adderley, who is the husband of Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha, has posted regular rants on his YouTube channel, including comparing Israel’s actions in the Middle East with Adolf Hitler’s policy of “lebensraum” and saying “’Israel is the biggest threat to the sovereignty of every nation on this planet because they are “the chosen people”. Deluded. It’s a cult, it’s just a cult.”
As reported by The Times, in a now deleted video published soon after the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Adderley said: “I am telling you now, Charlie Kirk was not shot by this guy [the suspect Tyler Robinson]. He was taken out. It’s the deep state, [Israel’s] Mossad intelligence, CIA. It’s the same f****** thing — CIA, Mossad, everything is hermetically sealed.”
In March, after a drone, believed to have been fired by Hezbollah in Lebanon, hit a UK military base in Cyprus, Adderley asked whether it was an “Israeli false flag”, saying “the Western Zionist-supporting, Israeli-complicit media and governments are all going to say, ‘Well, it must have come from Hezbollah.’”
Two days after 15 people were shot dead at a Chanukah celebration in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Adderley blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he was “single handedly [sic] responsible for endangering the lives of Jewish people and Muslims throughout the World.”
The Green Party suspended Adderley after Communities and Local government secretary, Steve Reed, publicly detailed his behaviour and accused him of antisemitism. Adderley responded by saying he was “truly, deeply, viscerally disgusted” by the accusation, claiming that he had “spent my entire life fighting racism in all its forms. I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Jewish friends, comrades and communities against genuine hatred.”
Sawalha described Adderley’s suspension from the Greens as “absolutely disgusting…PS being anti Netanyahu’s genocide is NOT antisemitic.”
The Greens have also been asked about the status of one of its candidates for Lambeth council, Saiqa Ali, whose antisemitic statements have previously been covered by Jewish News.
A further investigation by the Gnasher Jew social media account has brought to light a further post shared by Ms Ali showing dozens of people apparently cited in the Epstein files “with emojis showing their ethnicity” – all of which have the Star of David next to their names – and one (Prince Andrew) with a cross emoji and St George’s flag next to it, with the claim “only one got arrested” and that “either you believe Jews are natural perverts or that this was an Israeli operation”. Ali shared this along with the statement: “Let’s find the Russian connection (there isn’t one) and understand why the only one mentioned has a GB flag. Look at what is staring you in the face.” The many, many other people other different religions also mentioned in the Epstein files were not included in the post.
The Green party has been contacted for comment.
