Milch ready for first title fight
Light middleweight boxer ready to "realise a dream" at York Hall on Saturday night.
Light middleweight boxer Tony Milch says he’ll be “realising a dream” on Saturday night when he steps into the ring to fight for his first title.
Part of the card on Hellraiser boxing’s ‘Summer Showdown’ at the iconic York Hall, the 35-year-old will be fighting for the International challenge belt in what’s set to be an eight three-minute round encounter.
In what will be his eleventh professional fight – sporting a 100 percent unbeaten record from his previous ten – his first title shot comes just over three years since his first professional fight, and he says: “I can’t wait. Boxing as a professional and fighting for my first title is realising a dream.”
Insisting the pressure, with what’s at stake won’t get the better of him, he said: “Pressure is something we create for ourselves, I thrive under it. I’m looking forward to stepping in the ring on Saturday and doing what I do best.”
The first time he could be taking part in an eight-round contest, he said: “I’ve been preparing accordingly. I’ve been increasing my base fitness levels and am looking forward to a longer fight, where I can show my skills.”
The only thing that hasn’t gone according to plan is a change of opponent. Set to fight Matt Butler for the Lonsdale Challenger Light middleweight title, he will now come up against a Bulgarian for an international title. “Matt pulled out through injury, but I will stick to my strengths, box smart and be ready for anything”, he says, “but I’m fit, strong and ready to go…bring it on!”
