Moriah rolls out STEM programme to inspire ‘generation of inventors’
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics have 'never been more necessary,' the school said
Moriah Jewish Day School has rolled out a new science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programme in a bid to inspire the “next generation of inventors.”
The scheme, run with Empiribox Science, a UK-based educational company, aims to expose pupils to STEM subjects in at least two lessons a week.
Sarah Simmons, head of school, said STEM education has “never been more necessary and empowering our children to think critically and analyse will both broaden their horizons and benefit society enormously.”
“Children are innately curious, craving exploration and discovery. By harnessing that inquisitiveness, who knows, we may even discover some leading scientists and technicians of the future,” she added.
The school, home to a nursery since last month, also revealed a new bus serving pupils in Borehamwood, Stanmore, Bushey and Hatch End will hit the road in September 2020 as well as after school childcare until 6pm.
“Moriah has a proud heritage of attracting families from as far as Borehamwood as well as Bushey, Stanmore and Watford,” Simmons said.
She added: “We recognised that we needed to do more to assist them, making it easier and more conducive to working-parent life, in terms of getting our children to and from school and the hours we are open.
“When you combine these changes with our excellent new provision Mini Moriah, it really has become an exciting time for parents to make a choice of primary school for their children.”
