Protesters in Tel Aviv burn Russian passports as Israel slams Ukraine invasion
Hundreds of Israelis and Ukrainians gathered outside the city's Russian Embassy on Thursday night
Protesters set copies of the Russian passport alight outside the country’s embassy in Tel Aviv as Israelis and Ukrainians protested the invasion of Ukraine on Thursday.
The protesters gathered outside the building, chanting and calling for an end to the crisis.
“We all came for the same reason just to support, protest and to tell to the Israeli government take a stand, do something,” said protester Danat Noy.
“I need to show my protest and I need to show people and I need to show society and all media that we are here,” said another protester, Yrtalyii Betrov.
Earlier Israel condemned the Russian attack and called on world powers to resolve the crisis swiftly.
“Russia’s attack on Ukraine is a grave breach of international order. Israel condemns the attack,” Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said in a televised statement.
