Trump to Netanyahu: ‘You’re f**king crazy’ – details emerge of heated Lebanon call
American news site Axios publishes leaked details of Trump’s fury at Netanyahu’s Lebanon plan
Donald Trump reportedly lashed out at Benjamin Netanyahu during a heated, expletive-laden phone call regarding Israel’s plans to escalate military action in Lebanon.
The US President allegedly told the Israeli Prime Minister: “You’re f**king crazy—you’d be in prison if it weren’t for me.”
According to their reporting, Trump also told Netanyahu: “Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”
The American news site Axios published detailed claims about the conversation, which it said had been confirmed by two U.S. officials and a third source briefed on the call.
The call, which took place on Monday, reportedly halted Israel’s plan to launch fresh strikes on Beirut. During the conversation, Trump is said to have called Netanyahu “crazy” and accused him of ingratitude.
A U.S. official summarised Trump’s remarks as: “You’re fucking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”
A second source briefed on the call told Axios that Trump was “pissed” and at one point shouted at Netanyahu: “What the f**k are you doing?”
On his Truth Social platform, however, Trump provided a more restrained account, writing: “I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon. Thank you Bibi!”
Trump also claimed he had spoken with Hezbollah representatives, who, according to him, pledged to “stop shooting at Israel and its soldiers.” “Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them,” he claimed.
Netanyahu, posting on X, wrote: “Tonight, I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens—Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut. This stance of ours remains unchanged. In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.”
American commentator Mark R. Levin, who is close to both Netanyahu and Trump, appeared to confirm the Axios report’s accuracy, posting on X: “THE LEAK IN AXIOS WAS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW AND PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE IRANIAN REGIME AND ITS HEZBOLLAH PROXY.”
He added: “Whoever leaked that story to Barak Ravid at Axios did a grave disservice to our country, to our president, to Israel, and to Israel’s prime minister. The Iranian regime will benefit from that leak, viewing us as weak and desperate for a deal—even coming to Hezbollah’s defence. The Israeli people will also be furious.
“The missiles are aimed at them, not Washington. And for many other reasons, what was thought to be a devastating political hit on Netanyahu by the leakers about a private call between heads of state has done much damage to us and our military and our diplomatic strategy.”
Earlier on Monday, Iran had threatened to abandon the negotiations with the U.S. over Israel’s actions in Lebanon.
