Young Jewish cartoonist’s Private Eye work nominated for top award
Zoom Rockman's work depicting homelessness is one of 19 to be nominated for Political Pocket Cartoon of the Year 2019
Teenage Jewish cartoonist Zoom Rockman has been nominated for another award for an image depicting homelessness and published in Private Eye last Christmas.
Rockman, 19, first began drawing cartoons aged eight, and aged 12 he became the Beano’s youngest-ever cartoonist with his comic strip Shanky Pink.
A year later he was nominated for a Guardian award and now his ‘Ho Ho Homeless’ cartoon is one of 19 to be nominated for Political Pocket Cartoon of the Year 2019, with members of the public invited to vote.
In recent years Rockman has lent his pen to the community’s campaign urging the Government to do more to help refugee children, becoming an ambassador for Jewish Council for Racial Equality (J-CORE) and designing a special T-shirt.
