Hadley Wood Jewish community brought together faith leaders, civic representatives and local guests for a communal interfaith Passover Seder meal on Monday 23 March.

The evening at its synagogue in Hadley Wood was supported by the Enfield Council Multi Faith Forum and Enfield Borough Resilience Group.

Chaired by Mark Ross and led by Rabbi Toby Weiniger, the evening explored traditional Passover prayers, customs and traditions, including the story of the Exodus, the symbolism of matzah and maror, and the theme of the four children as a reflection on diversity within faith communities.

Guests also heard speeches from local faith leaders, Enfield council cabinet members and staff and special guest, Bambos Charalambous, MP for Southgate and Wood Green.

Mark Ross, chair of Hadley Wood Jewish community, said: “This was a very special evening for our community and for the wider borough and was especially poignant as it happened on the same day as the terror attack on Golders Green.

“Hadley Wood hosts its own Hatzola ambulance, which provides emergency medical services to those who need it from across all the communities which were represented at the Interfaith Seder. Passover is a story about freedom, dignity and hope, and it was deeply meaningful to share those themes with friends and neighbours from different faiths and backgrounds. We are grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the evening such a success.”
