Labour suspends MP Osamor for adding ‘Gaza’ to Holocaust Memorial Day genocides
Party source confirmed on Sunday the chief whip has suspended Kate Osamor pending an investigation into her remarks
Labour has suspended MP Kate Osamor from the parliamentary party pending an investigation into her comments about Gaza and Holocaust Memorial Day.
The decision, taken by the party’s chief whip on Sunday, came after Jewish News revealed the Edmonton MP infuriated local party members after claiming in her weekly newsletter that “Gaza” should be added to a list of “recent genocides” to be remembered alongside the murder of six million Jews.
The Board of Deputies, Jewish Labour Movement and the Holocaust Educational Trust all reacted furiously to the MP’s remarks, made on her weekly email to local party members.
Labour’s chief whip can issue a precautionary suspension of the whip in accordance with PLP standing orders.
