Lineker shares ‘Nazi Zionism’ video by ‘notorious antisemite’
Former Match of the Day host reposted footage of an activist expelled from the Green Party over 'antisemitism' speaking outside court
Gary Lineker has shared a video of a “notorious antisemite”, expelled from the Green Party for antisemitism, claiming that “Zionism is in the tradition of the Nazis”.
The football pundit reposted a video of Tony Greenstein, who failed in a legal bid to challenge claims he was antisemitic, outside Kingston Crown Court, after he was found not guilty of inviting support for Hamas after 7 October. The original video was published by Cage International.
In a speech following Friday’s ruling, Greenstein said: “I made it clear to the jury that my opposition to Zionism was because I was Jewish, and that Zionism is in the tradition of the Nazis.”
Greenstein was expelled from the Labour Party for “harassment” and “abusive language” over allegations of antisemitism. In 2020, the High Court ruled that Campaign Against Antisemitism was entitled to call him a “notorious antisemite”. This year he was expelled from the Green Party over alleged antisemitism.
Lineker stepped down from the BBC in 2025 after sharing a video claiming to “explain” Zionism, featuring a rat.
In an interview with the New Statesman in December, Lineker stated that he was “not in the slightest bit antisemitic”, but rather “anti-Israel government”.
Jewish News has approached Lineker’s production company Goalhanger, Amazon Prime, which has commissioned a series on Lineker’s life and production company Orchard Studios for comment.
