Major investment bank supports Israel charities with $1.5 million employee matching funding campaign
JP Morgan will match dollar for dollar donations by its 300,000 global employees to Israel charities including Matan, American Friends of Magen David Adom and American Friends of Natal
A major international investment bank has chosen six charities in Israel and Gaza for its employee match funding programme worth $1.5 million.
Following an announcement to JP Morgan’s 300,000 global employees on Friday, staff can choose to support a range of Israel- or ‘regionally-focused’ organisations.
Commenting on the “recent, horrific attacks on Israel and the resulting bloodshed and war in the region”, Tim Berry, global head of corporate responsibility wrote that “Terrorism and hatred have no place in our world, and our hearts go out to all who are suffering.”
Thanking the “countless employees who have reached out looking to contribute to relief efforts”, the firm said it will match employee donations dollar-for-dollar to the following organisations supporting humanitarian relief efforts to impacted civilians:
Matan (working in Israel)
American Friends of Magen David Adom (working in Israel)
American Friends of Natal, Inc. (working in Israel)
Doctors Without Borders USA Inc./Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) (focused on Gaza)
Mercy Corps (focused on Gaza)
UNICEF (focused on Gaza)
After announcing an initial $1 million philanthropic commitment to humanitarian relief efforts, “in light of worsening conditions” the company increased that figure to a total of $1.5 million, to support organisations working to provide relief for impacted civilians in the region.
