‘Panic and chaos’ after two men enter Stamford Hill shul with knife
Suspects arrested by police after they enter synagogue in north London with a 'very large knife'
There was ‘panic and chaos’ as two men ran into a synagogue in Stamford Hill with a knife during prayers .
Police have arrested two suspects after they entered a shul in north London on Cazenove Road with a ‘very large’ blade.
Neighbourhood watch group Shomrim N.E. told Jewish News of the “panic and chaos” the incident caused, “as worshippers were trying to flee to a place of safety.”
The Met Police told Jewish News: “At this early stage, officers believe at least one of the men entered a synagogue while running away from an earlier altercation. The male is believed to have been seeking safety; we are not aware of any threats made at the synagogue.
A male (age not known) was detained in Osbaldeston Road and arrested for possession of a knife. He has been taken into police custody. A second man (age not known) was arrested in the street nearby. He will be taken to an east London police station.
