Reform UK has suspended an activist assisting with GB News presenter Matt Goodwin’s by-election campaign, after communal leaders raised concerns about antisemitic and misogynistic social media posts, Jewish News understands.

Adam Mitula, Reform UK’s interim campaign manager in Tameside, has been identified as a key figure in Goodwin’s campaign for the Gorton and Denton seat and was photographed alongside the GB News presenter.

Manchester news outlet The Mill had revealed Mitula, a Polish-born entrepreneur, participated in an online discussion in July 2024 about Holocaust death tolls, where he asserted that six million Poles, including “some Jews,” had been murdered.

He responded to a post by former UFC fighter Jake Shields—who has a history of antisemitic statements—which claimed the Holocaust death toll was “made up.” Mitula added: “They always use Poles to make up the number. And on top of it they claim Poles were killing. Just sick.”

In another post from the same month, Mitula wrote that he would “never touch a Jewish woman.”

He is also alleged to have used a racial slur and claimed that “60-70%” of transgender people are paedophiles in other posts.

Jewish News understands that the Board of Deputies was among several organisations to file complaints with Reform UK about Mitula’s remarks, and that he has how been suspended.

Reform UK has been contacted for comment over the suspension, pending an investigation.

Mitula later told the Press Association: “I’m confirming my suspension as a Reform member pending investigation.

“The comments in question were taken out of context, and actually defended the Jewish community.

“The original article was published by the Manchester Mill, known for spreading misinformation and aligned with political opposition.

“My solicitor is contacting them and anyone else spreading false info that damages my reputation.”

Judith Prinsley, Acting Vice President of the Board of Deputies, said: “Reform UK was right to suspend this campaign worker following the serious allegations of his misogyny and antisemitism. We will continue to demand that parties across the political spectrum take firm action to root out this hatred.”

Matt Goodwin is seeking election following the resignation of Labour MP Andrew Gwynne and has positioned himself as the candidate most capable of addressing concerns about immigration in the constituency.

Goodwin has previously argued on X (formerly Twitter) that being born and raised in the UK does not necessarily make people from black, Asian, or other immigrant backgrounds British. He has also faced criticism from former colleagues, now with the far-right Restore Britain party, who accuse him of concealing his hardline views.

While Goodwin has spoken in support of Israel, he has taken opposing stances on other foreign policy issues.

Labour, the Greens and Reform all believe they are in with a chance of winning next Thursday’s by-election.
