UJS Scotland convention heads to Loch Long
Jewish students from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin enjoy unique nature-based Shabbat
The Union of Jewish Students brought together Jewish students on the beautiful banks of Loch Long for a Shabbat weekend which included services, meals, educational sessions and nature walks.
Students from campuses including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin were joined by the UJS team, Rabbi Eliran and Ayalah Shabo and their family from University Jewish Chaplaincy, and student engagement officer Zac Bates-Fisher from Progressive Judaism.
Egalitarian and Orthodox services were held, with subsequent sessions on topics including reflections on exile, love and relationships in Judaism and disagreement and conflict. Shabbat ended with a UJS-led pub quiz and karaoke.
UJS serves 9,000 Jewish students in higher education across the UK and Ireland.
