‘We stand with Israel’ says the PM as Downing Street is illuminated in the colours of the Israeli flag
10 Downing Street, along with other iconic locations across the capital including City Hall and Portcullis House, are showing solidarity with the Jewish state
Sites across London are following the lead of capital cities across Europe this evening by being lit up in the colours of the Israeli flag.
Downing Street, along with other iconic locations across the capital including City Hall, Portcullis House, Canada House, and the Royal Courts of Justice are all taking part in a move that sends a clear and unambiguous message in the wake of pro-Hamas events being staged in UK cities earlier today.
The prime minister tweeted a picture of Downing Street in blue and white with the simple message: We stand with Israel”
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London, said: “Sadiq condemns the terrorist acts of Hamas and stands in solidarity with London’s Jewish community. We are in contact with Government about public acts of support and in accordance with government guidance, City Hall will be lit up in the colours of the Israeli flag from tonight.”
