Zest restaurant to open second branch at Bevis Marks shul
New site in the heart of central London will open later this month, and will use Deliveroo to offer takeaway lunches to city workers
The popular ‘Zest’ kosher restaurant in Finchley’s JW3 Jewish community centre is to open its second branch inside the building housing the historic Sephardi synagogue Bevis Marks in central London.
Zest at Bevis Mark, located in the heart of London’s Square Mile, will be the only kosher restaurant in the City of London and will focus on meat.
The new restaurant will open later this month and has said it plans to use company Deliveroo to deliver takeaway lunches for busy City workers to their desk.
Those behind the project said they were expanding due to demand, including from City professionals and tourists, and said it will serve contemporary Middle Eastern Cuisine including mezze, sandwiches, cuts of meat and salads under the supervision of the Sephardi Kashrut Authority.
“We’re thrilled,” said Rabbi Shalom Morris of Bevis Mark Synagogue. “It furthers our historic mission of enhancing Jewish life in the city of London to bring quality kosher food of the highest standard to those that work, study, visit and live in London.”
Zest manager Joshua Owens-Baigler said: “We are proud to be opening the only kosher restaurant in the City of London. The opportunity to extend our social enterprise beyond north-west London and offer our food to even more of London’s Jewish community is very exciting.”
